How do you scan music files with an anti-virus program?

I want to download songs from Limewire but I don't know how to scan any of my files after I download them to check an see if they have viruses. How can I do this? And if the song IS a virus how do I delete it from my drive? Plus, I have the Symantec Anti-Virus system. Is that a stong enough program to keep the trogans and worms off my computer? And if not, should I uninstall it and install Avast? Thank you!

  1. get avast then after you download the song right-click it and then click scan(file or songs name). i had synmatec and it didnt do anything for me. avast worked great.
  2. i have just up graded to the new avg 8,and it auto scans in real time etc, everything, whatever you use,its usually down to prefrence,it should check your music aswell as any site you visit.and if it finds anything auto move it to a virus vault, whatever programme you go with it will tell you all you need to know, good luck.
  3. Right click on the file > and choose check with anti virus. * I like Avast antivirus (www.avast.com) it has a boot time scanner. This important feature allows a user to instigate scanning before a virus is activated, in the case that a virus is suspected to be active on your computer already. * Norton is a system hog.. in my opinion. * If you decide to uninstall Norton and switch to a different anti virus program.. you should use this... because with out it, you will not remove all norton... its stubborn... * Norton Removal Tool... http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Norton-Removal-Tool.shtml
