What is the best free anti virus program?

What are its pros and cons, and how does it compare to Norton Anti virus program?

4. Hmm..ad-aware 2007 is free, and really good. It starts when you get on, or when you program it. Spy bot S&a is really good also. It immunines you to viruses, and is also free.
5. There's no such thing as THE BEST ANTIVIRUS program. All AntiVirus progras have limitations and most of all they're NOT PERFECT! For me PC-cillin is a good (but not the best!) anti-Virus Program.
6. The free ones are all crap, belive me, I tryed 'em all! I recommend using of Kaspersky ISS, that's the only one I trust and I need no other crap. Norton AV is crap too, it has an issue when it becomes to scanning highly encrypted zip files, usualy their skipped because of trust, but this one... ughhh

8. Price has nothing to do with how good something is. Take Norton for example. Norton does absolutely nothing. It simple DOESN'T WORK. It doesn't stop anything from getting through, and worst of all it slows your computer down worse than the spyware/viruses!! It is a SCAM. What you want is a healthy combination of Spybot: Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, and most importantly, a safer browser than Internet Explorer. Safari would be my suggestion, although it is very new for Windows, I expect it will be very good at keeping up with Firefox as far as security goes. Firefox is the other option, though, and Opera's decent too. But really, uninstall all traces of Norton, and McAfee too. They don't do you any good at all.

13. It is difficult to say which is good / bad. For home use , I feel one called AVIRA ( A german Anti-virus brand ) is good . enough. It is FREE , autoupdates , the moment you connect to internet. The autoscan is a bit slow, but does a total scan , even suspicious file extensions , malwares , browser addons are picked up. AVIRA claims to detect over 2.5 lakh virus definitions. ALL THE BEST !!
