What is the very best anti virus program?

I bought Norton. It didn't work. I bought Fix It Utilities 7 and it does not work. Seems the virus, a Trojan, keeps coming back. I tried their spyware detector, and found nothing. Anti virus keeps finding a trojan, I have deleted it 3 times, I have quarrantined it 4 times. But, it keeps coming back. Are there any good anti virus programs?

Um, try AVG Antivirus, and Avast! Antivirus, both free. They both work very well. If that doesn't work, reformat, and then install one Antivirus you like.
I like McAfee
I read reviews on them and The Shield had excellent ratings. That is what I use now and I love it

free.grisoft.com avg software is fine i have had it for months and i havent had one problem yet and its FREE what could be better.
Yes.. Nortons Antivus is the best. It sounds like to me that you may have some other program conflicting with the virus program. First of all you should try getting your computer working good first.. Try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To: start programs accessories systems tools system restore This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again. Then try adding an antivirus... Good luck E
AVAST - It continually wins the Virus Bulletin Award. It won in Oct at 100%. It's also probably the best for viruses in the wild. AVG is good too... now by ewid, and is the one to run if you have a Trojan. Also it leans over to the spyware more than most anti-virus checkers. That is probably a good idea since the middle ground between virus and spyware is the next target.
I don't mean to be harsh but after reading most of the replies I can surmise that not one of those fine folks has ever checked their security software firewall/anitivirus to see if it is certified, most commonly referred to as ICSA which means it meets rigid standards for detection and prevention of viruses. Reviews are not viable as most of them are biased based upon paid advertisement by a software manufacturer. Check 5-6 computer help forums and you will see which ones are the best. Currently Bit Defender, NOD32, Kaspersky. My only slamming would be Symantec and McAfee, they work but they are bloatware, and overpriced for what you get. You could use free home edition of Avast and it will work better than either one of those products. HTH
As far as I'm concerned, you have one of the best "Norton" and it looks to me that the problem is somewhere else. So, before you do anything else do a thorough clean up of your system. That is get rid of all Internet garbage files, cookies, history and clean your cache. Then do a check disk and a defrag and restart your computer. See if the problem is still there and if yes, go to Norton site and use their free scanning service and see what they will find out and recommend.. Another thing you can do is to go to Tuneup Utilities site, download their free trial program and use it to clean/defrag you registry. If all fail, take your machine to a reliable shop and have them check it.
Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware. Go to www.distrowatch.com to find out how to get all the popular flavors of Linux... ...then do an image search for Linux screen grabs on Google. BE COOL - GET LINUX DC :)
