What is a good anti virus software for a home computer?

i was fooling around and istalled something that may have endangered my computer. what is the best anti virus software i could use?

  1. AVG Anti virus is a good, reliable and free program. Also install Ad-Aware as it is very effective, free and highly recommended. You may also try Spybot - Search & Destroy. The links below will take you to the download pages to download the same.

  3. McAfee Virus Scan is what I've been using along with it's partner program McAfee Anti-Spyware. Both have worked great and are easy to update.

  7. McAfee. It has 3 separate programs that completely search your computer, and give YOU the choice to delete or save them. It's the best security ever! and it doesn't screw with your computer!!

  9. i'm not saying this is best but i use trend micro and i have had no problems for over a year. it works fine for me.
  10. Stay away from Norton & McAfee - too many viruses are written to be undetectable by these two common programs. Go with AVG!
