How do I get Windows XP on a computer that has Vista?

Me and my brother want laptops and Windows Vista is compatible with pretty much no programs. How do I get XP on the computer? I don't know that much about computers so please be detailed. Thanks. i have the xp installation disk. how do you format your drive?

1. Format and remove vista then install xp.you have to have xp installation disk.
2. Simple solution is to run the programs in compatibilty mode....more complex is to reformat the hard drive....if you have the full install disc or an upgrade disc (retail copy), you just select to erase all data from the hard drive and away you go. You could also check with the hard drive manufacturer as they have tools to format and wipe hard drives and set them up for installation....or you could search download.com for ubcd (ultimate boot disc) this has all the tools you'll ever need to format your hard drive, test your memory and then some.
3. I would call Microsoft & ask that question. It would seem to me it would not be a good idea unless you take to a computer geek. If you have access to a Best Buy, you could ask someone from the Geek Squad if it is advisable to do that. I'm sure you should be able to call a "computer geek" and ask their opinion & how much it would cost for them to do the task. You can tell them your shopping around for rates.
