How to remove windows vista and install windows 2003 server or windows xp?

I have a new dell xps 410 desktop on vista home edition. I want to remove that and install either windows 2003 server or windows xp. I tried to do it but it does not allow me to remove the vista from the system. Has anyone come across such situation or have solutions for this issue?

  1. When you boot up your PC, keep pressing F12 and select boot from disc. Insert your disc (XP) and run it. When u get to the stage that it asks u where u wanna put it, select the same drive (C\:) that your Vista is on. and your done! It should overwrite and install XP. If pressing F12 does not help then boot up and keep pressing DELETE. Go into your BIOS and select first boot device as your disc (XP) and proceed as normal (explained above) easy wen u know how
  2. put the CD in the draw, boot from CD, run the setup program, delete the partitions, rebuild the partitions, install XP its that simple p.s. its a dell, bios entry is by pressing F2, not DEL
