How do i restore Windows XP to original configuration?

I have a laptop with Windows XP that I'd like to take back to its original, out-of-the-box configuratoin. Unfortunately, I no longer have the system discs that came with the computer. Is there a way to completely reformat and reinstall that doesnt require that I have the system disc?

1. It wont. I've been trying to do it myself. So far I have been coming up bust. The only way is to get a new hard drive.
