Is it possible to reinstall windows xp from the cab files on the computer?

I have lost my windows xp disk and need to reinstall windows xp. I heard someone mention that you can reinstall windows xp from the cab files. Is this true? If so how do you do this?

  1. You can't do this, copying the cab files is difficult as they locate all over the drive, also this does not initialise the registry.
  2. NO!
  3. No way !
  4. it is Possiable but very diffuclt to do ( unless you know what your doing ) But Most XP Systems do have a Recovery System which will Re-Install Windows XP or you can use the Windows XP Recovery Disk ( which you should have gotten or Had to Make)
  5. simple answer ... No provided you still have the COA, use someone else's CD
  6. If you have a copy of the i386 folder of the installation CD, you can reinstall it, otherwise, it is very difficult to do it without the installation/recovery CD.
