How does a person with a laptop computer on a cable Internet connection go wireless?
My sister has a laptop computer and right now its hooked up to cable internet connection. She would like to get out of having the wire hooked up to her laptop and go to a wireless cable connection. What would she need to buy to do this? Please explain this to me so that I can tell her.

- 1. She needs to buy a wireless router - that costs about $50 now. 2. Check to see if her laptop is equiiped with a built in wireless internet connection card - if not, she can buy one. Probably about the same price as a router, I'm not sure. Any computer store will be able to help her.
- She'll need a wireless router to connect her modem through. And for the laptop, she'll need a wireless PCMCIA card or wireless USB adapter, preferably from the same manufacturer as the router. If it's a recent laptop it may already have an inbuilt wireless card in it.
- Buy wireless cable router device ex: Linksis or other. Hook it up to your cable. If your laptop does not have wifi capability, buy wifi pcmcia card or usb. Both easy to setup & install.
- She needs to buy a wireless modem
