How come I cant install windows xp but can install windows vista on my ibm laptop?

I had windows xp on my ibm thinkpad. Then I reformatted it and tried to install windows xp on it. When I inserted a windows xp cd into the ibm and then setup started..Then I got an error saying no harddrive was found...But when I tried windows vista install it found the harddrive?

This is because the Windows XP CD does not come with yr Harddisk Controller driver But Vista came with your Harddisk controller driver You need to load yr Harddisk controller device driver before XP can detect yr Harddisk You need to get yr Harddisk Controller driver onto a floppy disk when it says Press F6 to load 3rd party driver press F6 with your Floppy disk with driver Inserted If you do not know what i am talking about i suggest you call IBM for the Restore CDs with drivers
