How can I transfer my songs from an old computer and old iPod to a new computer and new iPod?

I have thousands of songs on iTunes on my old computer which I sync to my old iPod Nano. My old computer is about to break though and I need to transfer my songs to a new computer. However, I have just bought a new iPod Nano too. So, how can I transfer my songs from my old computer to my new computer and then download them to my new iPod? Apple customer service are steadfastedly ignoring me.

  1. I know use both yr ipods. Firstly wipe all the music off them. Second enable disk use. Then open my computer and your ipod should be there. Drag all the songs into it, if you want make folders of all the playlists. Then put them on your new computer. Or before dragging all your songs click advanced, consolidate libary in itunes. Then should be able to view all the artists in my music, itunes - itunes music
  2. The way that I would do it would be to either burn discs of the music, or to save it on an external hard drive. The only downside that I see to burning discs is that you would need a lot of blank cds. I have most of my iTunes backed up on cd so that if something does happen (God forbid), I won't lose my music.
  3. I did this with a great program called "igadget". just google it. i think it's like $15 and you can download it off the site. It allows you to take anyone's ipod, including ur own, and take any songs off the ipod and put them on your itunes. apple denies the ability to be able to do this. the program is great!!
