How do I connect my laptop computer to my desktop computer on my network?

I have a Windows 2000 desktop and a XP laptop. What I want to do is connect these two so that I can view my laptop on my desktop or vice versa? They are both on the same network.

  1. if u already on network. maybe u can installed dekstop tech like VNC. u can remote and view ur laptop from ur desktop.
  2. What I believe you are saying is that you want to be able to remote control and/or remotely view the screen of one computer from another computer on the network. If that is the case then VNC would be a good option. You can download it free at http://www.realvnc.com Install both viewer and server options on each computer in your network. Then use the viewer to view the other computer. You can connect to a computer with the viewer via the IP address or by computer name
  3. First you must have Network (ethernet) port or wireless communication facilities in both computer to communicate each other. specially, you must use crosscable to connect both computers, if you have ethernet port. after connecting XP machine will automatically assign the ip addresses. otherwise you have to assign manually. you go to contorl panel - double click on the network connections icon. then double click on the local area connection icon. then you assign suitable ip address manually. now computers connected with each one. then you share the folders in your each computer. then you can access the files
