What would happen if I used my laptop in my car?

I just bought a new car and I want to use my laptop in my car. I'm planning on getting an inverter so I can just plug it in like a regular house plug. I want to use my laptop to watch movies while the ignition is on so it won't drain all the batteries. Will the car generate enough power to keep my laptop running and where is it getting the energy to charge the car battery if I'm not driving it.

1. You will have to find out what the power consumption is to watch a dvd, plus laptop use to see how long you can use it before the engine won't start.
2. well lets start simple. yes um, your car does have enough power however you wanna make sure that the inverter carries the proper amperage for all of your toys. determine the total amperage of these toys and buy the appropriate inverter to handle them.a piece of advice you could crash or you could get smarter. don't want that to happen now do we?
