  1. what am i 'radio shack'?
  2. u need this sort of card thing kinda shaped like a ps2 memorycard
  3. You need to pay for internet service through your phone jack.
  4. You will have a port in the back... the modem. No need for much more unless you want it wireless. Then go get the parts to make it wireless... everyone carries them like best buy, circuit city.. they look like a momory stick. They will need a internet provider or they can leach off yours if you have a wireless router set up in your home. But if they left your home... no connection!
  5. it connects through a wireless motem, and yes there is a monthly fee plus a charge to rent the motem
  6. duh, you have to pay for the internet connection, you have to buy a modem and if you want it wireless you have to buy a wireless router ,in addition. thats ofcourse if your laptop has wifi. if it doesnt you will have to buy a receiver...
  7. if the laptop has a built in wifi antenna then all ull need is a "hot spot" orr u can just get a cable to run from ur or a routier hope that helps
  8. you obviously know nothing of computers(sad). laptops have a wireless card in them. they connect to a wireless router. the router is connected to the internet. ya, internet costs money. they don't charge you extra if you have a laptop and a router connected to the internet.
  9. Laptops can connect to the Internet 3 different ways. 1. Dial up connection via (phone line) NOTE: ISP required. 2. Ethernet high speed connection through a network cable. 3. Wireless WiFi WiFi ready laptops will work totally FREE in WiFi hot spots such as airports and some coffee shops but these are not secure networks. Word to the wise... you should install a WiFi shield if you plan to use public WiFi. Wireless can be added to any home high speed broadband connection (DSL or Cable modem) via a wireless router or a wireless access point.
  10. U need a wireless internet connection connect to internet on a laptop. U can get those in most pc shops or even on ebay. U call the broadband u want to use say, tiscali and then they will connect it for u within a few days
  11. There's a monthly fee - connection to the internet is through an Internet Service Provider. They're localized, so it would have to be one serving the area that the person you're getting the laptop for lives in - usually the local telephone or cable TV company. (Most of the time you can choose either one, since they both provide internet service in the area.) Modern laptops come with both wired and wireless internet already installed, so all the recipient needs to do (once they - or you - purchase internet service, have it installed and connect the modem that the provider supplies) is turn the laptop on (and connect it to the router if they want a wired connection) - most laptops will find the internet connection by default and set themselves up. If not, the provider usually maintains a technical support number that can be called for assistance in connecting with that particular provider's service. About the only thing you may have to add is a means of connecting to the modem wirelessly. Some providers will provide a wired or wireless modem, at the user's rewuest, some provide only wired, and you have to provide the wireless (a "wireless router).
  12. well they need a wireless internet conection so get them a wireless modem and they would need an internet card to connect them to the internet and there is also a monthly fee you have to pay if you have your own connection so i would just get them a network card and a 50$ gift card to best buy.
  13. Well you could buy one already equipped with the internet capabilities and then you would need a wireless router.....you can find those at walmart or whereever you are going to buy the laptop.....
