The features I want and things I want it to do : -Microsoft Word -Microsoft Excel -Microsoft Vista -Internet surfin -iTunes -Play DVDs -Play CDs -Yahoo and MySpace IM -Default games -Long battery life -Long life of the laptop I dont need a large harddrive bcuz I plan on using memory sticks and pocket harddirves for large files, but I atleast want 180G's just incase. How can I fix my laptop sound card/audio so it works without having to apply pressure to the laptop? I'm having some trouble with audio on my HP Pavilion zv5255us laptop. The sound card/audio does work so I know it's not a problem with the drivers, but I can only get sound when I apply pressure to the laptop, usually near the headphone jack. This happens when trying to listen through the speakers and through headphones. I've recently bought a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Amigo to help the situation and it does work perfectly with headphones but I don't think there's a way to have it work through my laptop speakers. As I travel a lot I don't want to have to buy external speakers to listen to audio without headphones but I am willing to do this if necessary. I should also note that I will by buying a new laptop in about a year so I don't want to make any costly repairs/upgrades on this laptop. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

How to get laptop to see desktop and its resources? I bought a laptop and am trying to make it so that I can share files between the desktop and the laptop, and also print from the laptop directly to the printer that's connected to the desktop. I had a working LAN already with the printer sharing working fine. Here is the setup: A cable modem, connected to a linksys router, which has wifi enabled but also is connected via ethernet cable to the desktop PC (windows xp). The laptop (Vista) can connect to the wireless network just fine but cannot see the desktop and therefore use any of its resources. The router assigns IPs to both comps just fine w/ dhcp and both comps can get online. Just can't talk to each other for some reason.
